Hello, I haven't worked with soft pastels in some time (oil pastels, acrylics and watercolors are my thing right now), but I did see this link and thought it good enough to share here. There were some things that I knew never knew about the medium :)

Thank you. I am slowly learning and finding out these things, but it's good to see it is a common part of starting with pastels.

Great article! Thanks for posting it. Those tips are great for beginners, I can remember what I ran into the first time I got serious with pastels. Some of them I discovered while doing portraits in New Orleans, switching from colored pencil realism to pastel sketching. It got entertaining finding out what paper color did to people's complexions while trying to draw them as fast as possible within the amount of time a tourist will sit still to be drawn! An hour or less is advisable, my first clients suffered a bit more than that but stuck around because they'd paid.
