It's a horse, again :D
Still having problems with getting a really good photo, but oh well.
"Carabineri", acrylic on canvas board, 10" x 8". Beautiful reference photo from Janina Suuronen (Paint my Photo) with permission.
C & C are, as always, very welcome

Thank you, and nope. I'm working with a toned canvas, which went through several layers of gesso and sanding in between. There is no white, just some mean reflections. It is more of a blueish grey :)

Good work. Lovely muted colours and I like the expression in the eye - rather soulful.

The "reflection" shows the squared pattern of the canvas, if you sand, shouldn't it be flat??? I'm just wondering because I've just prepared a canvas intended to be absolutely flat and not to show the texture; I prepared it by by adding 5 coats of gesso and sanding between each one when dried... took me a lot of effort for it to be visible when you make a photo!!!.... :(

I know, it is a lot of work. And I usually can't to wait until I can start the real painting.
In that case it was not an accident. I sanded it just enough to let the last colors show :) It is actually very smooth.

Nice painting! Lots of detail and depth!
I also have trouble getting good photos of my paintings. It's a constant problem.
