Heya

Lots of fantastic photos , zack.. choose -Venice- " sempre " ;)

30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials , 29 min more painting time ! Ohh ..

For the next two hours, just go for it…… Venice ....after ~ 2 hours  in graphite B2..

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/14-Jan-2017/1682623-Venice_WIP.jpeg

size ... 1/2 sheet
medium .... B2/ than watercolor
support ......300 grm CP , cellulose paper
time taken 5809 sec.

........but you like to know the "hows, whys and wherefores" ?

Here short story , long

...using a Taklon-line for a support guiding line in perspective drawing on this steep focus ..

Hows
..just found a carp fishing line in my gearbox made from the same material type "Taklon" as some of my synthetic Da Vinci brushes are made of.

The Taklon line is a japanese brand and perfect for fishing and drawing and painting ;) fun hey ...
Strong, soft , tension - stress free , nearly clear and thin in diameter and here easy to hand only the price 10 m for 25 € :( took away my smile ..
OK, i share it with my fishing budged this time .....

Why
..the large ruler can come handy for vertical- horizontal lines but for diagonals i put in ( at leased several preliminary drawings are been very much covered with graphite mud on the end and need a rubber session) a taped nylon line right on VP- center is a fun drawing tool if your under WDE pressure ;)
Boats, left side house do have diff. VP ! so changed the spot taped line > it 's easy , clean and above all other lines right in place fast.
Well, for that steep angle the VP( FP on picture wrong V :cat:) is sitting right in the painting area , hoping tapes glue make no marks on the cp cellulose paper ;
an option would be a needle pin....Needle pins & Taklon i use mostly for two VP 's buts that another long story ...

Cheers W.P.

Fun to see what the cell phone camera makes out of the pigments..

This is a fast plain upload of Images no time to set colors in there right values.

Just to keep the venue running simplified some of the image parts like the calm water reflections this marks makes me crazy..made some ripples into , break the mirror effect for faster finishing :cat: .

For neutrals like black/gray i get some swatch cards , see easier what works ... maybe- theoretically .. ;)

It ' s a Umton Barvy Pigment set up this time , nested in Mijellos Bullet proof palettes by a cheap B.tray.

Schokohund is not seen on the Images , why... snoring on the Studio couch in the back ...

This permanent splashing in the water bucket overlay ed by the sound of Earth Wind and Fire makes sleepy ...

Heya

sneak peek of "sempre"

Drying( Coffee ) time ..and some steps further

Looks some of you are after hows and why ... ;) ..

I like to share this in steps , this is a composition with millions of information..

Simplification in forms and finding the right tone-value-intense of color and keep that general grayish mood is the goal. :crossfingers:

What happens in between , snoring Schokohund and I had a short visit from the best dear wife.

Lost of talk about the composition ( with my dear wife , Schokohund still snoring.., ) Conclusion ...guess , now i have do to a second painting with a smaller cut out and and and .. oh this beloved Venice...

By the way it 's snowing now in Venice ,i mean real heavy snowing happens not very often and the salty seawater is freezing in the canals heavily ...
On the north coast of Italy Trieste which is close to they fight with high winds 120 km up to 210 km  not so good for plein air work :cat: now...

here the step

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/17-Jan-2017/1682623-2017-01-17_10.47.06.jpg

You my think it s a slow forward , yes it is ...
Lot of to make decisions ..special if changes are made from the original.

Thanks for looking in..see u' soon

Heya

it s friday and still in process

" sempre "develops in it kind ...still in WIP status ...

What can i tell you so far ...the coming closer process is now affected by paper fiber ( sizing )and brush water release.

The 300 grm cellulose paper and the # 10 DV Maestro make there own marks cause the fibers can t handle that much water ( layer ) well due the mixed in sizing ..

Fun to see Umton Barvy s Terra Pozzoli fits the walls nicely but have to placed softly otherwise its staining and stays above the surface to bright .

About the taped area : better handling this as thought ...
