I spearheaded an all ages drop-in art afternoon last weekend at the local arts centre.
My offering was designed for all ages and a simple inexpensive approach to relief printing.
Participants drew into a thin styrfoam plate with ballpoint pen. They applied colour around the indented line using various water-based washable markers. Moist kozo paper was laid over top and with gentle pressure from fingertips or a soft rubber brayer they made a colour white-line relief monoprint.
Attaching a few photos of the results

This should be in the Creativity Forum!
I'm surprised the colors printed out so brightly. Thanks for sharing.

I've done something similar using the ArtBar from Derwent, drawing on paper and then using that paper as a plate from which to make the print.

The prints are amazing! Bet the kids loved it. I am really surprised too at the vibrancy of colour. I'll have a go with my grandaughter she is only little and we have some of those markers (somewhere!). Pizza base ok do you think? Might be too bobbly though...I'm not sure where to get proper styrofoam from here.

I found Scratch-foam listed in Amazon UK. However at 36.77 that is quite a substantial mark up from what price I purchase it for here in North America. One of the retailers from Toronto sells a package of 12 sheets (23 x 30 cm) and I pay approximately $14.00 CDN (8.70).

Another supplier in the UK I found do sell a 5 pk. http://www.creativeglassshop.co.uk/product/35300/scratch-foam-board-15-2x22-9cm-5-pack.html

You can also use styrofoam picnic plates and styrofoam trays used for meats and other food items from markets.

It's not fair we pay so much more for art/craft stuff here in the UK :crying: and we have less choice, but I guess it leads to an inventive spirit!

But thanks for help. I have found some on ebay too - about 9 plus postage for 10 boards 15x23 (half the size of your ones!!) so double the price...
