To be honest the sketch layer is nothing like this painting in progress, two hours of pushing pen so far.

Surely it's a lot of work, but I love the effect of what you're doing with the branches. All those individual crisp strokes add up to something very soft and airy... Great choice of color for the understorey in the line of trees. At this point, your painting reminds of the pen-and-wash experiment you did recently. Looking forward to updates!

I attempted several foreground options but time and interest got me beat on this occassion and I plead guilty I took an easy way out. :o

Now it looks like one of those brown ink landscapes of old. I liked the way you cropped it. I liked where you were headed with the original, but this is very nice too.
