I like the little cabin. Looks very rustic and atmospheric. Line with wash is a particular favourite of mine.

Lovely Cupcakes, Brian.....gentle engerizing colors
yes, thank you for starting the thread.

Tyree - these watercolor pieces are creative and full of depth. Cohesive sketches with rich color and fun detail......great sense of play too.....

Well, I have a number of the featured artist NicholasRoerich on desktop , and collected other photos I wanted to paint in Nich's style but did not get any farther.......but I'm still hoping to.....

Here's to a good November.

Nickel, are you going to the Art in the Carolina's. in Raleigh??I'm meeting a new friend who is working it.....we met in a coffeeshop ...I was sketching and we struck up a friendship........

Nah, my cooking skills aren't that advanced. Just used a bunch of stock photos and loosely based the paintings on them. I'd eat a cupcake any time though, if you're going to make some... ;-)

I particularly like the way you do the paper cup holding the cake Brian.

I love your richly coloured pen and wash drawings, Tyree.

Hi Robin.

We are definitely getting into Autumn, or Fall, with orange leaves all over the place, and tumbling into my front door too!

Its not too cold compared to the usual weather for this time of year...so that's good.

If you all have some fall photos of your area, i would love to see
the photos !
Here is a recent shot i took of a florida boardwalk that we frequent, i thought it looked magical !

Nice forest picture!

Some autumn photos from years ago when I lived in the Netherlands:

Digital cameras were still in their infancy then, and I had yet to learn how to take proper pictures, hence the blurriness... :-)

11-05-2016, 12:48 AM
Here in South Africa we don't have much in the way of spectacular autumn colours, and what we do have is mostly from non-indigenous trees...

11-05-2016, 05:12 AM
Lovely Autumn photos. Maybe I will go out with my camera tomorrow and capture some fall photos to show.

11-05-2016, 09:43 AM
brian...these are fascinating..the colours in the netherlands are beautiful..after looking at them it makes me miss Kentucky even more ! looking forward to seeing yours June !! tyree:clap:

Here are a couple I took on Sunday morning. Just my immediate neighbourhood so nothing fancy. I meant to go to the park but I did the WDE instead...my local park has some beautiful trees. Maybe I'll get there one day this week!

Bush outside my front door.

My street.

The walk along to the vegetable stall.

11-07-2016, 12:53 PM
how lovely June ! love the street you live on, have you ever painted it ?

This weekend my hubby and I went to the Fakahatchee Strand ! We spotted two panthers on the Strand !! It was fantastic, because it is rare to see them in the wild !!! woohoo !!! tyree:clap:

Nice autumn colours! Here's a sketch of a ruined temple:

I got a bit overwhelmed by the complexity and didn't achieve good contrast, so now the thing is too busy with nothing for the eye to latch onto. Will have to give it another go some time.

I'm trying to improve my ability to deal with extreme complexity (something I have always had a lot of trouble with) and I think I bit off a bit more than I could chew! :-)

Been a while since I have tried out this kind of thing:

Last time I made them ACEO size; these are slightly larger. Acrylic on board, 15 x 10 cm (about 6 x 4 inch).

11-11-2016, 11:20 PM
that temple is very impressive..i would have been too lost in trying something like that ! love the kite and the windmill scenes ..especially the bright colour skies...tyree:)

[B]that temple is very impressive..i would have been too lost in trying something like that !

I actually did get completely lost, and ended up greatly simplifying it and improvising quite a bit. :-)

Love the portrait of Leonard Cohen Brian. Lots of people... in groups I check in on....have been doing art journal pages to celebrate his music.

June- looks like Mr. Bean might be a neighbor of yours? I love Rowan Atkinson.

Thanks Susan - looks like it was a good day for a walk. We have had alot of smoke in the sky.....very dry and several forrest fires raging in the surrounding mountains.

Brian - lovely photos....I think I've painted from the one with the trees on both sides of the road......

Here is one of some cool leaves I found from a tree in a shopping center planter. And a piece I did a week or so back.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/17-Nov-2016/88676-leaves.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/17-Nov-2016/88676-moon-flowers.gif

oh, didn't see the page 2 entries......lovely work Brian......

I too have been playing Leonard's Hallujah on my ukelele , thinking about what in pervasive influence he was.

I'm glad you're getting to do some study art.......it is a good feeling to study something you've been hoping to work on.......(tinge of envy)

11-20-2016, 06:34 AM
Robin...beautiful art! I love this colourful style.

I went to the cat rescue today and got a lovely little tabby kitty. I think I'll name her Susie! She's settling in as I type this...running about trying to get her bearings. I think she's about 5 months old and came with her own supply of food!

I'll post pics later when she's settled!

11-20-2016, 10:18 AM
Here is Susie....

11-21-2016, 12:48 AM
Looks like Susie is already settled in and in full control of her entire household and staff. :-)

11-21-2016, 05:52 AM
