MY COMMENTS:
I am an on-again/off-again painter with little experience or training. This is obviously in-progress and I can't say any part of it is finished. It's a copy of a Joe Velazquez work - my husband admired the original and wanted something similar for our lake cabin.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I'm struggling with the skin tone on the figure. I've never done a portrait before and am not sure where to begin. I also am terrified of messing up the face and hands and want them to look really realistic. Any tips would be much appreciated!

This will be a great piece, you'll get the face and hands. Paint thin so you can go back over it as often as needed. I'm thinking burnt sienna and a blue with a molecule or two of cad red light, Naples yellow maybe for highlights, or white.. Keep it simple. just my two cents.

I think I put this in the wrong spot...it should be a WIP. I'll see if I can move it.
