Very new to these forums, thought I'd start with an art journal! Most of these are from my sketchbook but some are just random pages I use for experiments, and maybe one or two finished pieces. Crit very welcome!

Welcome both of you to WetCanvas! Creamandblueberries, your figures are very strong and compelling to see. All are different. The last one has to be my fave. The longing, wistful look in her eyes tell a story.

Thanks guys! KreativeK, that was definitely one of my favourite ones to paint... I've been experimenting a lot lately and it's been really great :) Working primarily with watercolours and charcoals. Oil is a bit of a pain for sketching although I have a few of those too.
More stuff from the last week or so...

Welcome to Art Journals.
Wonderful array of sketches. Being a flute player myself, the red-headed flute player caught my attention. Well done.

Thank you DrDebby! I actually used to play flute too, although I discovered recently I've forgotten how to read sheet music... except for the b and c note. So no real flute playing from me anymore :(
Just a small acrylic practice I did a few days ago, I've been working on some bigger pieces but I really want to get better with acrylics! It's not in my sketchbook, hopefully that's okay...

If you call it a sketch, that's what it is. :) Got a lot of texture going on there.
And, you can re-learn to read music. It'll come quicker since it's more remembering than learning something new. Just saying. :music:

Creamandblueberries, welcome!!! You have some lovely work in your sketchbooks. I love that last one of the lips. Your shading on the black and white faces is great with good light.

Fab start, lovely work :)

Your work is absolutely fabulous!

Lovely lip study. I'm sure the sheet music reading skill will return, like Debby said, as remembering not needing to learn from scratch.

hey guys! thanks for stopping by and all the lovely compliments! quick update, i've been really busy lately with life stuff and also trying to plan some bigger pieces for shows (trying to get some writing in as well as nature stuff before it gets cold!) so i'm super late for inktober!
hand study, i used to draw hands so frequently but i feel like i lost some of the magic of hands recently...
also i'm having some difficulty with the images flipping themselves, am i doing something wrong? hope everyone is having a lovely autumn!

eyepaint, thank you! i've been trying to get the modelling and shading down in paint, i find it a lot easier than in pen for some reason :/
tbrender & joan, thanks! i find it super hard to keep up with inktober, especially when it's the last time of the season to go outside comfortably haha!
