love this...except the shorts or whatever look too big. I like how the painting tells a story.

Excellent. Very nice color scheme. I hope Lily was wearing sunscreen, although from the look of it, she would get sunburned. The "shorts" aren't too big, because they aren't shorts. I assume that they are the kind of camping attire that has kangaroo pockets for carrying stuff.

LOL, no they were shorts, but the day began chilly and we were wearing sweatshirts. This is after it warmed a bit and the sweatshirt was tied around her waist.

Well painted.

Compositionally, the piece is highly unbalanced, with a huge portion of the interest being placed on the far right side, and very little on the left in which to balance its visual dominance.

I think you have depicted the calm serenity of the scene well. :)
