Hello folks! This is a painting of a little boy named Isaac. he is the brother of the girl I did a portrait of last year named "Abby".
This is 12 X 16" oil on canvas. I tried something a little different for me on this one. I did the background with a palette knife. I have very little experience using a knife for painting so it was kind of fun. I like the texture that I got. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.

Bob

P. S. I'm cross posting this on the portrait forum as well.

Bob, this painting is super. Love it. I think that using the knife on the background is a good counterbalance to the sweetness of the little boy's face.

Well done!

The sweetest thing!!!!
It's adorable and fresh, and beautiful harmony between the subject and the background.
I was a little surprized of the arrangement, doing a portrait in a landscape format, but it really looks like the painting is holding well the empty space

I like the color scheme very much. I would have liked to see some of that warm color of the background in his shirt. I guess is very subtle and I can't see it well from here.
