Very nice. I like that you used other colours in the face, the greens & purples. I find the face maybe just a little too red but otherwise looks good. He looks like he has a very distinguished face.

(some poeple have alot of red)

this is very well done

the only crit (imho)
the red on His right cheek
on the lower angled edge
could be worked /not so sharp a line
(into the rest)

nice rich flesh tones
good facial structure and ears too
hair line works very well
suit fits
good choice of background color
picks up on facial violets and blues

Nice job. You've captured more than just a likeness. My only suggestion would be to work in a slight shadow under the left nostril. It might add a little depth.

If you are unfamiliar with Lucian Freud, you might check him out. Some of his work is a little disturbing, but his portraits expose fantastic shapes and colors that traditionally wouldn't be rendered. While not as bold, your use of color & stroke reminded me of this painting (http://www.2blowhards.com/archives/FreudL1975HeadoftheBigMan.html) in particular. It's called "Head of the Big Man" by Lucian Freud, done in 1975. The photo & link is from www.2blowhards.com/archives/000669.html
