View Full Version : Fuel and Fuddle - Neon Sign - Linoleum Reduction Print

Been recently working on a linocut reduction print of a local restaurants sign. I wanted to do a very large version of the entire sign, but just couldn't get the composition right. Decided to crop the image to a much more detailed close up of the sign.

For those who have never seen or heard of a reduction print it's a single linoleum block that it constantly carved as each color is printed. The image above shows the color progression up to this point. I have approximately 5 or 6 colors left to go. Registration is vital to these prints and making sure that they are constantly lined up the same way every single time is probably the hardest part. This is my first print that I've only had a single print (edition of 10) where registration was off. Luckily it wasn't too bad and is good enough to include in the edition....unfortunately, I made a massive mistake and screwed one up today. The edition is now down to 9...hoping to make no more mistakes.

I am not informed on the print process but it looks as though it is a challenging medium. I appreciate you sharing this here.

Added a 6th color yesterday morning before work. I didn't intend on adding this color in so now I guess I'm looking at a 12 color print.
