Some daylilies on masa (adhered w/ matte medium onto watercolor paper)

The center of these have been giving me fit, all suggestions/comments greatly appreciated

EEZ, frijoles! I am seriously computer challenged, too:p

Thanks, Karen :)

This is really lovely! By "masa," do you mean the corn meal used to make tamales or something else? And what proportion masa to matte medium did you use, because I'd like to try this!!

Rose Queen, mesa is a type of paper similar to rice paper. It is made in Japan. You crinkle it, then paint on it. The paint flows into the wrinkles. It is sort of like painting on tissue paper.
T-Rex, I like this picture, it might be time to put it away and take a look at it in a few days. Sometimes the light dawns on it differently after a rest.

Lovely colours, great painting! If the centre bothers you, maybe just a tad more definition to the stamens...pistols...whatever they call those things.

I don't think the center needs more but as suggested you could define the stamen, etc. This is just beautiful - The soft repeat flower in the background is just right. Your've really taken advantage of the mesa paper.

Nice texture and a strong focal point, I like it,

Ha! Best laugh of the day.

Karen, this is beautiful. I don't see what you mean about the center of it; there doesn't seem to be anything at all wrong here.

How did you like working on Masa? I ordered it, couldn't wait to try it, and then got sidetracked by Yupo and still haven't tried the Masa.

Thanks all!

I've been experimenting w/ the masa paper for about a month now. I love the batik effect and love the delicacy of the paper. I'm planning on continuing. I've contacted an established masa artist and have just received new info on techniques.

We did have a thread earlier (about 2 weeks ago) when several of us were experimenting and sharing, if anyone wants more info I would be more than happy to share the latest technique articles I have received.....feel free to email me.....Karen
