Since my return to painting this year I've been trying out new subjects and new techniques. I feel like urban landscapes lend themselves well to knife work. So here's my first real stab at both. 22x28 Oil. No title as of yet. But it is the flatiron building in the St.lawrence Market area of downtown. Also not the best picture, glare in the top left, a little dark on the right. I need to get better at that stuff.

Complete with what appears to be a Beck Taxi! Thanks for the memory.

I think this is a wonderful urban landscape. I love the rich colors and the paint application. You've really captured the rainy day atmosphere. I think you should paint lots more city scenes!

Beautiful work! I love the blurred buildings in the background and the detail in the foreground with perfect perspective. The red building with the arched column and the shading in the windows is spectacular.

Thank you all for your kind words. This one was way out of norm for me. I'm working on another now. Hopefully I can replicate the success of this first attempt.
