ok, so there's a complete lack of people who are willing to sit for artists who are nowhere near an artclass. so soon, i will be developing a website where you can view and request some pics of people and their form. who better to serve artists than other artists? i guess i'll be in some of them. so will a female friend of mine possibly.

1) if you feel like gracing us with yourself, let me know! we all know it's not for porn or anything... most of you should have nothing against posing if you're willing to let other people do it for you. ;) besides, for the most part, no-one will see you. just the few people who are willing to participate.

2) if you have a specific pose in mind, let me know. i know it's better to do it from life, but some of us are WAY out in the boonies... all we have are digital cameras or hitchhikers!

let me know huh??

PS: i used the butt symbol because i intend to post some sketches here possibly.

Good Idea, Richard, especially for the people in podunks like we live in.

You might want to solicite participants via that nifty new private messaging thing that Scott has put in here. That way people could participate without advertising the fact to their digital friends here. Another thought is that the resulting resource files could be catagorized and made available to registered WC members only (keeping out the idle surtfer, not that they could find it in this maze anyway). Scott, Michael?? This place could be a portal to your site.

I don't think it should be restricted to participant posters only, However. I doubt if at the resolution we can afford to post here, many positive IDs could be made from the tinyheads, anyway. :rolleyes: Some people are shy, or just don't know anyone they would feel comfortable asking to photograph them. Those people would likely be the ones most likely to benefit from such a service. Some folks I know are too nervous to attend a figure group, even if there is one available! Go figure, but I vaugely remember being pretty intimidated for my first courses too...

Perhaps you should figure out a prefered size and format recomendation sheet, pose request form, who knows? You got a lot of time on your hands, Richard? ;)

Having done these kind of cooperative pose situations in groups before, I think it is valuable for all concerned(I am hoping to set one up in England this fall). Good variety, low or no costs, poses and lighting designed for art rather than glamour, and a developing appreciation among the artists for the difficulties inherant in modeling. That would be less evident in photo sessions (you can hold almost anything for 1 minute, 10-20 teaches new lessons in concentration and pain management!), still, I do think that artists frequently have a good sense of a "good" pose.

Anyway, I have some interesting slides I had shot for upcoming projects, low angle, high angle and unusual poses with single light sources. I would be happy to contribute a set for your site.

Richard, we have a large database of reference photos here at Wetcanvas...but no fine-art nudes or gesture/pose references...(that I know of..??)

Scott...this just might be a good idea for figure artists here at Wetcanvas also. Not sure how it would all work...but prospective male or female models could always send in a "signed" model release or whatever. Again, I'm not sure what the legalities are.

is an interesting idea/concept Richard. Let me know how things progress ok.

i did actually bring it up to lunachild, and although she's beautiful, i asked her mainly because of her site. have you seen her pictres there? some great stuff! she mentioned to me that there are several books available for this purpose. she's right, but the more i think about it, this way has 2 clear advantages. one being price: most of the good books i've seen run in the 30-40 dollar range, where the website would be free. second: i'll take requests. is there a phrase for that? in other words, if you need a specific male pose, i can provide, or maybe someone on the board can. custom in other words. just send a sketch and i'll get as close to it as i can.

hey, if you know people who would be willing to do this, send me some material. it's actually a little neat... "sitting" for your fellow wet canvas boarders feels sort of liberating, once you convince yourself to do it. i know deeva was thinking of posting her photo where she was wearing a corsett (is that the right word? i forget...) and miltz had some slides... this could be a great project. know any boarders that would be interested? know any you'd like to see pose (some of the people here, like lunachild or the sue ellen, moderator of this board, would make great paintings...)

i think i'll put them all on a site and then password protect them where only boarders here know how to access the place. how's that sound?

this should be fun...
