Let's use stamps and/or stencils in a mixed media painting this month!

Any subject, any paint materials, any size.

Here's a youtube video by an artist called Sanda Reynolds to get you in the mood.

Please add any videos or websites that may inspire us!!

Post your new mixed media art with stencils and stamps in this thread.

Have fun.

Here's a mixed media painting I did a few years ago with acrylic medium pressed through stencils and then watercolours over it.

You could get really creative and use crayon, watercolour, acrylics, inks etc in a truly mixed media way.

Throwing the kitchen sink at the paper?

Hubbie just handed me a good handful of the imitation wine corks - somekind of plastic .....and I'm gonna carve em into real simple motifs.......

Hi Susan and Nickel -

June - lovely work, do I see shades of bubble wrap?

Hi. in that watercolour painting, I think I may have used something like sequin punchinella. I don't remember.

I have been trying out some backgrounds with stencils...on paper and on gelli plate...but nothing finished.

Tyree, I never watched that video to the end. I was mainly interested in the multiple use of stencils and stamps. Probably there are much better videos to view.

I like backgrounds but it would be good to do mixed media paintings with animals or people or even landscapes and still life, using stencils and stamps along the way somehow.

Its a goal.

Using stencils in an abstract painting..Suzi Dennis

Here is Suzi making a stamp from a stencil....in case you want to try this. Often stencils have designs that would look good as stamps. Or maybe you have plenty of stencils but no stamps. Try making this easy stamp! I am going to try one today.

some stamps I made today, using Suzi's method...super simple, like icing a cake!!

If you don't have modelling paste, you can use paste for filling cracks in walls. Or there are many youtube videos on making home made pastes. Or even just a very thick gesso would do, maybe.

Journal page, using stencils and stamps. Experimenting with new stamps: Venus and ship.

Not the best scan of the page ...but I enjoyed playing around with stencils, stamps, ink and wax crayons this morning!! Also gold leaf (imitation) for the borders...the flakes flew everywhere...and my technique with the flakes need practise.

Really very lovely June! Love the story you created! She's beautiful! The stamps look great!

Those gold leaf flakes can make a mess. But fun!
