I built up the courage to use the watercolour pencils last night....

Its funny because last night when I was done I was SO pleased with this, I was hyped because I loved it, and now this morning I'm bummed because I looked at it and the first thing I found was a flaw that I didn't see last night (being that her hips look to narrow for her shoulders).

Isn't it great to be trying new stuff? Very exhilarating and you should be buzzing still off completing one. I can see what you were bummed about, I'm also wondering about the shoulder/neck area. Looks like the head is thrown back so it feels like there should be the back of the head behind the neck. I like your deevaa line style, the breasts are great and the right leg has wonderful movement. Looks like you had fun with the medium, keep splashing.

Great that you tried it... It doesn't really matter that its not perfect first time, just that you gave it a go..... I have had 3 out of 3 failures with the watercolour pencils in the last couple of days as I try new things that dont work... I still get a buzz out of trying something new.... This is one advantage us "amateurs" have over the "professionals"... We are not constrained by the styles of our teachers, coz we don't have any :D (thats a joke boys and girls).

I'm still pretty pleased with this one, I might do another tonight just to play with this pose, I really like it.

i really dig this. seeing as how you're obviously not going for photorealism, i wouldn't sweat the hips thing... it does nothing bad to the painting. in fact i wouldn't have noticed had you not said anything. more so, i'm looking for the color in relation to her form. it really is a striking pic. good job!! you're becoming one of my favourites on this board...

This is probably not one I'd rate as my best :eek: but I'm enjoying fiddling about with the watercolour pencils.... I did another tonight, however I'm abit shy about posting 'not my best' stuff here now..
