I am intrested in the Ampersand museum boards, are any of these good for use with oil pastels? gessobord, encausticbord, claybord, ect http://www.dickblick.com/brands/ampersand/ would they require an additional coat of clear gesso? are any ready to use? opinions on equivalent products or other options.

Well, the Pastelbord would be perfect. It accepts oil pastel very well and many here use it. But any of the boards would be good. The other boards, however, don't have a sanded surface, so keep that in mind. If you use the other boards and want more tooth, you can always apply a pastel primer or clear gesso.

I'm am not sure if claybord would protect the wood from the oil. But again, you can always gesso it. The other boards would protect the wood with or without primer/gesso.
