GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Evening women
Year Created:
Medium: Pen/Ink
Surface: Paper
Dimension: 4" x 4"
Allow digital alterations?: no!

MY COMMENTS:
I just did this little drawing today and I often do these preliminary studies before I begin painting something conceptually. I would like to know what you think of the sketch and its composition and if you enjoy the components, elements and over all movement/motion of the piece.

As for me, I am thinking that I love it.

Thanks

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
My questions can be seen here above. Looking for general layout and compositional feedback along with content, etc.

Will this make a great painting?

Yes in fact it is right side up. Does it look weird to you or something.

looks totally sideways, yes.
it's quite awkward if you plan to keep it that way.

I looks like one is sitting so it does seem rotated. they don't seem to be laying down..?
but what ever your vision is , if it is how you want it to be , do it..

But if I turn my head sideways , it makes a bit more visual sense to me..

I am really not following you guys at all on this one. To me it is a very good looking composition and remember this is still abstract art, nothing is meant to be in correct proportions based on real anatomy. More like cubism sort of.

try rotating it 90 degrees right and show us the new one. I think maybe you didn't look well at your first post

90 degrees ro the right looks extremely awkward, or turning it in any other direction for that matter. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree this time.

Here is a redefined sketch that I just made...made some different decisions with some details and contrast in darks and lights also

i think you're messing with us
you seriously prefer the sideways to the upright?
i think the upright tells a story
and the sideways one is, well, sideways
and i'm a pretty out of the box thinker
just sayin'

The one you have t the bottom is the correct one. The one you have at the top is sideways!

I think this forum has some hiccups in its system that cause some of these problems like sideways photos, etc.

I just tried something..as you know I like to construct, reconstruct and deconstruct to find answers. I like this story.

I like the way the shadow of the upper paper falls on the lower one. Have you thought of making a multi layer piece?

Ok Glad the right way up has been sorted.
Now the title, do you mean Ladies of the Night?
Is there paint going on or is this it?
Asking as you have already signed it.

Andrew

I like it with the peoples head pointing up. Would be great to see it with color.

this is not a finish! This is a little tiny small preliminary study/drawing that I did. I do this kind of stuff all of the time in hopes that something good will come out of it that will provoke me to want to make a painting from the idea.

And I believe this one makes the cut! However, now that I have altered the composition the title will change but that is not important now.
