Sorry I've been away from the forum for a while. Here is my latest. 16 in. x 12 in. oil on canvas board. Hard to get a good photo while it is wet. I'm not sure whether or not it is done. This started out as an attempt to paint a still life of kitchen utensils in a ceramic vase. I got frustrated with that, so this morning decided to just put away the still life set up and use what I had started as a jumping off point to paint abstract shapes and colors. I had fun working on it. I don't have much experience with oil paint, and using oil was a nice change of pace from my usual acrylic. There is stuff I can do in oil that I can't do in acrylic, and I think the reverse is true, too. Also, I have been trying to paint realistically for a few months (even the self-portait I posted here in September was pretty realistic in its intent), and it was really liberating to let go of realism with this painting. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it, thanks for looking. C&C welcome.

Reminds me of some of the Color Field artists, my favorite genre.
well done, great composition, too.

I like the overall composition and concept (and I feel your pain regarding taking a photo of wet canvas).

I believe that the upper right area is missing something, as most colors are equal in terms of luminance and it appears a bit dull. maybe a small splash of that wonderful yellow?

Thank you, Daniel. You may be right about the upper right. I'm still thinking about it.
