Very nicely done. I would like to see some shading on the birds and the trees to give them form.

I agree - definitely needs shadows otherwise your lovely bird is flat. Also the branch upon which it sits doesn't seem to flow from tree side to claw side - might just be a crocked branch of course, :D I think also the bird need just a touch of lightening up - mayde on top of head and bulge of chest and a bit on the tail feathers ? But first the crucial thing is - Where is the light coming from??? Get that sorted and you will have a very nice little piece of art. Chirp Chirp!

In the first picture the bird is large and because it's body is curved, it fills the space on your paper nicely. In the second picture there is just this little bird in this big blank space. Remember, the background is important too. You can use your imagination to barely suggest landscape in the background without it conflicting with the star of your picture.

Yes Gary,

You are right!

The second bird looks flat, but actually I am making some modification to the background and I will try to add some old pieces of wood at the base to fill a little bit the blank space and create depth and decide where the light comes from...

next week I will try to show the new modifications.

Thanks
