Thank you both, I was trying for a sense of remoteness of the Northern Patrol. These ships were used because of there range and endurance, but were uneconomical and vulnerable.
The Admiralty had a scheme where shipping companies would recieve part of the cost of building the ship, but could have the use of it in wartime. They had strengthened areas for mounting armament (usually obsolete guns Even some from as far back as the Boer War).

Awsome! I really love your work. You seem to put them out so fast! Don't you ever sleep or eat!

They don't take long, this one was just over 2hours. I usually have a queue of ideas in my head, and other than gathering reference material, I seldom do any other preparation. I can visualise what I want so I go ahead and paint it. Lots of faults, some inaccuracies, but as they are commissioned by me, I'm the only one I have to please!. The finished painting sits opposit me to look at for a while, then tomorrow, the page is turned, and I do another. ( not this tomorrow, as pensioners wife and I get our Flu jab at the Doctors in the afternoon )

Why not Jim? You need to work the stiffness out of the shoulder somehow! Just got mine yesterday.

I think your just saying that to make your self seem normal! 2 hours! I would only be able to make it look like an ink blot test in 2 hours! Seriously my hats off to you on what you are able to do in so short a time, especially with water colors!

Thank you both, I do appreciate being able to paint like this, but to me it is normal and just what I do.
Being retired and having an understanding wife (she does Quilting and Embroidery) certainly helps.
