Hi,
I wondered if anyone could tell me what plates they use for drypoint?
I use perspex, which works really well - it makes life easy as I can put my design underneath.

I was thinking of using metal plate to get more prints out (at the moment, I'm only getting one or two good ones). Can anyone explain the difference in the different metals? I did have a go with a scrap of copper, but the design came out really fine, so obviously it needs a lot more pressure with copper than with perspex/plexi.

Any tips advice would be great.

Copper is harder and therefore gives a much better burr, inks up better. I also find copper offers more variety of line. Only disadvantage is price. If you are going for delicacy of line, you may prefer Perspex.

thanks karenlee, sorry only just saw your post, must change my settings to get an email notification! I think I will stick with perspex for now as it suits my needs and is cheap.
