MY COMMENTS:
one of my attempts with ink and water color. not my preferred media but I still come back to it because it intrigues me.

over all c&c is welcome. do you like it or not, and why... thank you.

It appears from the images of macaws that the very top of the head is a blue or green and that the colors are much more vivid. I would increase that yellow-ish gold on his upper breast and go bolder with color on his wings.

It's well done and they are really beautiful birds!

thanks for pointing that out, it is true to the reference, I need to learn to see past the photo lighting and add things that make art. it's been one of my life long struggles. ( getting the pop! in a painting.)

It is a really lovely painting, but I think a whiter background would have brought out the brilliant colors of the macaw more. I saw them in Peru this past summer, and was blown away by their vivid colors. I would to want to highlight that. But I get that might not be your own preference.

actually, it is a white background. unfortunately, I had incandescent light when I took the pic. it yellows out all the white. and yes, they are cool birds. lots of fun as a pet too.

Oh. Sorry about that...thought it was tinted paper. Perhaps the color distortion of the photo, uncorrected, is fighting with your colors. Splendid nonetheless!
