"Country"...friend from here drew the fish on newspaper and I told her to let me have it and I'd work it into the painting she wanted me to do.

I think your friend should be very pleased! You created a wonderful world for her fish. The "perky" splashes along with the curving movements of the fish seems joyful and lighthearted. I see a division horizontally with the upper half of the painting flowing and rather graceful while the lower half has more dominate vertical lines with a "staccato" rhythm. At first, this almost perfectly halved division bothered me, however the longer I look the more interesting this becomes!
I like this painting. It's joyful!

thanks Steven. Actually they are supposed to hang side by side like this but I was having trouble posting them thataway. Well I couldn't resize them small enough, even though I have them at 2 by 5 inches and it still says my file is too big. pooh

beautiful rendering and a warm story behind this...

nice composition, great mark-marking, and in general nice color choices.

No issues with the red per se, but IMHO when mixed with white the pink is a bit lost in the overall palette (lower right); I would tone that down or add some fresh blue glaze over it.

yeah, La. Guess I do, because i kept resizing this smaller and smaller and it still was "too big". Somethin I'm not doing right.

Is this how you wanted to side by side them?

yes, thank you Dave. That dark "shelf" or band on the right is as dark coming thru the left, but there must have been a glare on it. anyway, that's the way they are to be hung

oh, here i thought you'd cut off some of the top of the 2nd pic
guess that means i'd like to see more of the 2nd pieces newspaper bit rather than have it swim off the top.

yeah, problem was the entire drawing of hers covered the entire length of the canvas. I really didnt want it right in the middle, but I might have put half on one canvas and the other half on the other. Hindsight is 2020

Not liking this at first, but after Dave resized it (THANX DAVE!) it made sense and came to life. And I also think it is cheery.

goot stoof

I like the variety of greens and blues. The newsprint provides an unexpected contrast. They look good side by side.
