Hello. Just curious if anyone has printed t-shirts using mounted linoleum blocks and the Blick 999 Model II Etching Press. Also, if anyone has information about what size press you would want for printing t-shirts, that would be great! I'm hoping to stay in the $3,000 range.

I have never printed on cloth with my Blick press, but just going by the nature of the beast, I am thinking a bottle jack press would do a better job and would cost quite a bit less.

The problem I foresee is the way the roller press tends to push stuff around as it wrings the stuff through it. Having a soft piece of fabric in the mix may cause some issues that won't make the job easy. I have used clear vinyl sheets as protective layers before in my Blick etching press and they tend to squoosh around under the pressure. T-Shirt fabric would probably be worse.

A google for DIY bottle jack printing presses.

You can print shirts on the 999 press, but it takes some accommodations. The guys at Drive by Press print on shirts using an etching press. Check them out here.

I could not for the life of me remember the names of those fellas but I knew I had seen it on youtube. I've also seen students do it. I think one of the issues was using ink that could stand wash cycles.
