One of the most haunting songs has a great line....
"the insane locked up in themselves"
I immediately thought of this song when I saw this painting

buried by gray glaze, scratches covering the face, eyes eaten away by the pupil... love the cat's ears.
Music-wise, the songs I have in mind is not Joe Diffie, though... "The medication is wearing off" by the Eels maybe.

As someone who has a good but now distant friend with a very debilitating mental illness, I can relate to this image very much. The "blunted aspect" of some people dealing with these terrible illnesses is really well represented here. Did you have a model for this one?
Seriously great job. Made me cringe a bit, feeling guilty for not seeing my old bud for quite some time. Thanks for the reminder.

Almost all my friends are on a continuum of mental illnesses, from occasional returns for 10 day stays back "home" to trying to adjust to bipolar episodes. I just seem to be more comfortable with folks like myself.
crazy artists and the like, but we still seem to have all of ears....so far....

Ophelia..this bit of milky color on the nose bridge and over the bottom gives the feeling of a face emerging from the water. Great piece
