MY COMMENTS:
This is my first abstract besides basically doodling with a pen (which I like to do).

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
The pastels I used were fairly cheap and know some places not covered good, but wanted input as far as the composition.

I noticed the picture is posted upside down from what I intended. Not sure it makes a difference, but keep in mind.

for me it works better the way you intended it. That one section of brown at the corner makes it static. I feel it's better with that lightened. Just my opinion

What is it an abstract of?

sometimes abstract art is not an abstraction of something but merely pictorial design. I was taught pictorial design at the Chicago art institute by a wonderful teacher, Raymond Yoshida. He introduced Miro, Klee and other abstract artists to the class. He was a strictly abstract artist who was not derivative of anything and sort of felt derivative paintings were not as important as total abstraction. It's always like flying without a net.

Right, I have to admit I had no subject at all in mind when I did this.
