View Full Version : Rainy's Fall 2015

Hello everyone!

Gosh, I've been gone a while... I took a break to write and publish my first novel, which came out this week!

Now I want to try to get back into drawing and I really, really hope its like riding a bike as I haven't drawn hardly at all for like a year now! *gasp*

I'm starting this thread to motivate me to get moving! So here are the journals that I am going to be using for my new drawings:

1. Pen Sketchers 5.5 x 8.5
2. Holbein Multi Drawing book 6.5 x 8.5

Now off to get caught up on what everyone else is doing!

Published novelist! Fantastic :)

Title etc??? We need to know!

Agree! Where is this novel?

Wow, I am so rusty at everything... it's gonna take me a while to get back into the swing of this sketching. CACHET KRAFT sketchbook (so paper is brownish)

The novel is a paranormal romance only available as ebook right now.

Great sketch! I like the way you picked out the eye whites. Strong distinctive features. Well done!

Wonderful sketch. Doesn't seem rusty to me.

Thanks Joan. Messing around in kraft paper sketchbook again... used too much watercolor and the paper crinkled... oh well.

Sketched this with a ball point pen that was sorta low on ink while watching tv last night

Great sketch.

Great mouth expression on the portrait, love the intensity and surprising features. Blue eye is almost incongruous.

Gorgeous little plant sketch, very lifelike, love the shadowing and support under the table and rounding on the bowl. Elegant little illustration, it almost makes me want to put the plant in a story or some plot point behind the support under the table to give it a context!

Great face :) with the tight crop

Thank you so much Robert, Debby, and Viv.

I added a bit of watercolor to the plant sketch. (It's pot is inside of a basket on my counter...)

I'm working on a mixed media of my friend's dog but its been a while and feels so awkward. Might have to do a few tries to get it how I like it.

Ooh nice with the color added.

loose freehand jalopy on craft paper sketchbook with pen and then some koi watercolor box. I am so rusty at this!! :(

Cool old car.

Rainy, good sketches. I especially like the plant sketch.

11-24-2015, 05:20 PM
Thanks guys... the car was one I tried copying from a book but I didn't get the dimensions right. The plant was from life though :-)

Love the plant sketch, especially with the color added. Great job on the woody!

Love the color on the plant sketch, that just makes it perfect. Cool old jalopy with color, that worked well.

Playing around with the Kohl-i-knor Magic pencil (pictured on the side) in the kraft paper sketch book

Rainy, nicely done. You're braver than I am with portraits (I do a lousy job with portraits, so not sure I would post any of my own - not that it matters as I do not have sketches of people right now).
