Something a bit different from my normal landscapes

This is a bit different, and will be lovely when completed. Let me throw out a few suggestion to consider as you proceed. Think about breaking up the rocks in the foreground, It would be a bit more interesting to see some of the front rocks with a bit of space between them, rather than in a straight line. If you have pastel pencils you could add some shadowing to some of those rocks as well as a few lighter highlights here and there. Would you consider adding a few cooler colors to the middle tree? Cooler colors recede. I like what you have done with the trees on either side, by keeping them cool in color. Be sure to add your progress to this thread.

Thanks Karen - as always I really appreciate your insight and suggestions. I've started reworking the rocks as you suggested and will work on the trees. Even though this is different for me, I'm enjoying the change and feel I'm making progress/improvement with every painting. Most of the improvement is directly due to the help I get here at Wet Canvas!

Yes! Now your rocks look more jumbled, as they would in life. I would call this "The Blue Door".
