I bought a book by John Barber called the Pastel Color wheel book.
I also have another book by the same artist about watercolors and I liked it very much it taught me a lot!
Although I'm finding that he works in a really different style he likes to use a torchon.
Not that that's bad or anything I just prefer to put color on the surface not remove it or dull the gorgeous pigment crystals and dull up all my efforts but here's what I have so far on this still life demo.
The fun part is next shadows and highlights.....oooh so much fun! I'll post when I'm finished. Thanks for looking c&c welcome and always appreciated!
Here's John Barber's original...

This looks professional already. I'll have to look up the book. Looking forward to seeing final. Pam
P.s. What surface are you using? Thanks

That's kinda my style tight and controlled and with the shadows and background it really came together here's the finish...
C&c welcome...thanks for looking!
Oh by the way I'm using Canson 140lb. C.p. watercolor paper 12"x18" with Mungyo pastels for the foundation then Rembrandt artist pastels and Mount Vision for the finish!
I didn't do a charcoal or graphite drawing at all!
