Been working on a back ground for a barn owl painting.. I will guarantee theres more work in this nightmare of a background than will be in the main subject.. x

Fabulous b/g!!
Can't wait to see the owl....I see a ton of detail and that scares the crap out of me. But after seeing your awesome b/g I know the itty bitty detail of the owl will be a walk in the park for you!!
I'll be back

That background really is amazing.

Try to relax and remember why you're painting it. Or take a break and do something fast and loose.

The way you have everything outlined looks like you paint in a very careful way. I tried to do that once but lost control lol.

That's funny! Maybe one of those adult colouring books would be better for you.

I can't imagine me even starting something detailed like this. I had the last posting up on my screen when I had to leave the desk for a while. When I came back, I was shocked when I looked at your work. It is so finely detailed, the owl suddenly looked photoshoped. I know it's not. We all watched you develop it, but there it was. I don't know if you think this is good or bad, but now that I've seen it that way, I can't get past it. The work hasn't changed, but I sure liked it better before I thought of photoshop.

ha ha If you knew me, you would know, Ive had many versions of photoshop, all gifted to me in the past.. and Ive never been able to work one single time… Even the simplest thing is way beyond me.. lol.. I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing that you can't get it out of your head.. but I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the finished pic, when it is done…

Realism such as this is what I hope to do one day. I am so far from it, but looking at this gives me incentive to keep trying. May I ask if you are using a board? What acrylics? This is just stunning. The background looks so 3D, it just amazes me.

Extraordinarily well done. The ivy is amazing. It actually draws my attention away from the wonderful owl.

I can't believe you painted that. That's totally incredible. I'm really interested in wild life art , I think you did the barn owl feathers fine they are just so hard to do and I don't think you ever get them right. I will put you down on my list of faces alongside Morten solberg, David ord and Robert Bateman.

Amazing. It looks like he will hop and hoot in a second.

From the feathers to the ivy to the rocks - the level of detail and care (and time!) is fantastic!
