View Full Version : Three Oranges

I have done this scene before in pastels. 10x8" Acrylic on Canvas. To try and keep a cleaner palette I took two disposable plastic bowls. In one bowl I placed a large paint nut of each color on the inside rim of the bowl. In the other bowl I did my blending in paint nuts placed as in the first bowl. To get a color I just turned the bowl. After the painting was finished I disposed of the second bowl and covered the first one in aluminum foil. This one was fun. I made a few errors but it still came out looking painterly.

By paint nut I presume you mean a dab or blob of paint? Or is it something with lots of antioxidants?
The background is wonderful, and with all those tall strokes it seems to tower over the oranges. The two oranges on the right look like the shadows are going to eat them.
Lot more talent than I have, so thanks for posting.

Thanks for the kind words. I got the term 'paint nut' off Bill in the oil painting forum. Maybe blob is what I am after. Anymore time spent with this piece and I would have met that goal. :)
