Here's a new 9x12 acrylic. I decided to take the summer and just explore what direction I want to go. Painting outdoors, but just on my own. Not in events or pre - established themes. I'm finding I'm leaning more and more toward a fantasy kind of direction. Not your usual Plein Air style :) But then, I like to take them back to the studio and think about what the initial draw was, and then just go with it. I'm having fun so far!
All C&C most welcome.

I like this a lot Karina, the style is a bit different, why follow the crowd? I think that plein air has become a bit too much of a fad and the paintings are starting to look the same, so kudos to you for breaking free from the crowd and doing your own thing. I could see this being the perfect setting for a storybook illustration.

Karen, this certainly is different to your usual style. It does have magical 'fairies in the woods' feel about it. I can imagine them peeping out from amongst the trees.:) Would make a great illustration for a children's book.

Thank you Susan, Dave, Chammi. It's fun to follow a different path sometimes. And can be frustrating, too. Painting something that is purely imagination seems is in a way more exposed than painting life in a more literal way. Somehow images from my mind are much harder to bring to life. Probably because they aren't based on actual real world physics and what is possible! Ha! But fun to try :)

I don't know what your usual style is, but I like this one a lot.

I like it too but the wall of trees in the background makes me feel a bit hemmed in. I think you need a gap in the trees and maybe some sky.

This is like an oasis of light in a cool, dark forest. Beautiful.

I like how it's as if you are surrounded by the dark mysterious forest and yet there's a spot to enjoy in the center. It's really great.
