I love working with pastels and now have around 6 weeks under my belt with them ... I try and make sure every time I do a piece I learn something (wether it be intentional or through the mistakes I make as the piece unravels) ... Yesterday I decided to change things up a bit and give black paper a go .... what a hoot! I loved it and can't wait to get started on the next one .... Am more than happy for C & C ... im desperate to improve on what im doing ...

You certainly are charging ahead and making great strides! You'll be ahead of the pack in no time at all. What a great horse. Lovely

Thanks so much Jay :) ... Im planning my next piece already ... will be on black paper again, I love that I can get away with not putting in a background! LOL .... do you see anything I could have done a bit different? improved anywhere?

No crit here. You are rocking the pastels. Which paper are you using?

Thans so much Karen, that's just black canson paper ... I prefer the smoother papers to the really textured ones .... its to hard to get good coverage on the really textured papers ... well for me any way

Splendid horse! I saw this in another forum and I'm impressed. Love the intensity against the black background and the way you used the paper and texture to create a mood.

Thank you Robert ... this looks very unfinished now to my eye after the piece I started today .... but I am not going to fiddle with it ... it will be good to use it as a reminder of where ive come from and the progression :)
