View Full Version : Paradise Lost

This is a mixed media acrylic painting 28x34. I used packing tape transfers to create the buildings. If you expand the photo you might be able to see the packing tape textures. I have to admit it was more involved than I anticipated. It turned out more or less as I expected. Definitely leaning more towards the abstract style. Any comments would be appreciated.

I like this sort of abstracted realism.

At a glance the only thing, and it's just personal taste, is the over use of the yellow orange. It's great anyway, but since they are in fact looking a lot like buildings, my brain is naturally wondering why there isn't a bit more atmosphere or something to relate to space.

I'm still not a great source for abstract advice but I'm craving a stripe of blue or something on the bottom left.

Good stuff

Packing tape transfers? I've never seen that. Looks interesting. And your clouds are really good.

I like it too. Great contrast with those textures and shapes against that superb sky.

Very interesting idea and result. I do like how the textures have been used to create the buildings. Original and creative for sure. Superb sky as well.

The sky is so great and the tree on the right is awesome. The first building at the top of the hill (or just to the left of the dip) isn't working for me. I think it's that everything else is square and the orange shapes are round. But, it's a real gem. Kudos to you.

Thank you for your remarks. I took your suggestions and changed up the painting somewhat by adding some darks and squaring off the one tower. Tell me what you think?
