Wow! That's a handsome owl for sure. I am glad you posted the steps, they are interesting, showing your approach.
The background is perfect as well, the colors sing together :)

Gorgeous! I love the light on the ceiling or wall behind it too, the background feels spacious enough the bird could get up and fly. Wonderful detail and accuracy. Well done! I like the shine on the beak, it projects forward and looks wicked sharp and powerful.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback! The background in this one gave me some grief and I actually removed it all and started again! LOL I'm glad my second attempt worked a little better!

Raxu I photograph as I'm going so I can see the progress ... every time I start a pastel I feel like it's a mess until im at least half way through where it starts to pull together ... I'm always surprised when I look back to see it probably was never as bad at the beginning as I had imagined ... It's nice to see the transitions which is why I share them here ... I also hope that if people see me doing something the hard way ... they might make a suggestion as to a better way to do things!
