Attended Plein Air Painters of MidAtlantic today at Bowers Beach in Delaware. Here are the two I worked on. Both are on 7.5x9.5 pastelmat with various softs. The second one got smeared a bit. What's the best way to clean it up?

Only see one but a good one! I have learned plein air is a challenge but I do like it, much to my surprise. If you make it north to LBI area in NJ the art association I belong to has about 10 days selected to do plein air this summer. Pam

Gently sweep off the unwanted color with a brush, then touch it up if needed.

Very nice! Big, strong value shapes!

Sometimes I just refresh smeared details with the same pastels. It can be frustrating. A kneaded eraser can help too, being able to mold it into shapes to cut in around hard edges allows precision. Also being able to press and lift to remove just the last little bit of smeared color leaving what was under it. Depends on how badly it smeared.
Usually what it takes though is to rework accents, details and lost hard edges.
Love the one painting that posted! If they have the same file name that's why you got the second one overwriting the first instead of just showing up.
