Highball.
While developing 'Up Keep' the Dam Bursting bomb, they were working on Highball, a smaller bomb, two being capable capable of being carried by the Mosquito.
Originally for use against the Tirpitz. When this was no longer a requirement, a squadron, 618, was formed to operate in the Far East against major Japanese Naval Ships. WW2 ended before the Squadron could go into action.
This is my impression of what it may have been like, RAF Mosquitos escorted by FAA Corsairs attack a Nagato class Battle ship and IJS Mogami.
W/C 14 X 10 inches not very accurate a/c but they are pretty small and it's all imaginary

Fun composition! Aren't nagato class battleships just beautiful?

I liked the Mogami before they decided to make half of it into an aircraft carrier. The IJN Ships certainly had character, I love the way they seemed to treat the funnel, if it wasn't quite where they wanted it, the just bent it into place!.

I think their later battleships really projected a sense of power. I think they recently found the wreck of either Musashi or Yamato. I think you have really done an effective job on the Nagato here.

Really nice what-if. It would be fun to do the same with the war in Europe, what if it had gone into 1946 and the Luftwaffe had got some of those exotic jet designs?
