Hello everyone. Another weekend, another session of painting with my wife, Lake of Trees (Thaesha). This week I decided on painting the Dancing Trees picture. I used water color pencils this time, instead of the usual water colors to try something new and different. I learned some things that I like about them, and learned some things that I wouldn't do again with them, and all in all had an enjoyable experience with something new.

I used 5.5"x8.5" water color paper, whole think took about an hour.

Hope you all enjoy, let me know what you think
C&C welcome

Here's the picture of pre-watering

And post-watering (with some touching up)

Good job on the trees! They definitely appear to be dancing! Also, I like how you have depth to your painting.

Interesting shapes, twisted tree limbs contrasted with the straight road made an interesting composition.

I have similar feelings about w/c pencils...there are some things I really like and others I don't.

Good for you!
I always find I'm a little surprised with w/c pencils - often unexpected thhings happen!:)

Ah yes, the unending surprises that watercolour pencils give - I find them as frustrating as that doggone YUPO paper... they have minds of their own.. This was a complex (to me) subject, and I didn't have the courage to try it. I'm very glad you did !!

It was more difficult to adjust the color of something after the fact. Also I had to learn on the fly how to color on the paper to make sure it doesn't leave a "pencilled" look on the piece.

Oops, accidentally commented from Thaesha's account

Like anything else, practice teaches what you can do and cannot :)

Good sense of depth here.
