I love anime even though I'm almost 38!
Bleach is one of my favorites.
Done on Fabriano Tiziano 75lb.(160gsm
A warm yellow paper with Rembrandt and Schmincke Selinelier and Mount Vision artists pastels a white charcoal pencil and Derwent graphic medium 6B-2H graphite pencils.
I haven't painted anything other than landscapes for half a year I needed a break.
No sketching was done very tight and controlled and mythological I really hit the mark on this one I'm proud!
I was so pleased that I couldn't wait to finish it I had to share now!

I am not a fan of anime, but your composition and lines in this go far beyond anime and make me wonder if you've had a career as a fashion illustrator. The composition is striking, and your lines are so wonderfully expressive and graceful! You really did hit the mark!

Thanks! No actually I have been told by friends and family that I was born with an inherent ability to draw anything I see with quite a bit of accuracy.
I think It was passed down to me from my father and his brother(my uncle Tom) amazing hobbyist painter and custom cabinet maker. Maybe I was born with the ability to draw plus now that I'm 38 I've had lots of time to practice and succeed and of course plenty of failure although it's not a total failure because you learn how and why or figured something out due to so called failure's. But that's just me.
I may or may not have finished it last night. I'll explain why....to me anyway the left side of his jacket looks like I could be tweed!! OR the right side finger blended?

Are you asking for a vote?

OK, then! I vote that you finish the left side sleeve with a little blending, like the right side. The tweed effect is distracting me and drawing my attention to that sleeve. I think when you smooth it, my attention will be drawn up to the face. I know very little about anime, but I really like what you have done here.

Lucky you, to have inherited some talent! In this painting you've captured so well the insolent slouch of the character as well as the lines and drape of the fabrics.

This is a very nice finish! My vote would be to smooth the sleeve also, maybe just a bit less but enough so that it doesn't look like tweed and does show a bit of shadowing on the inside edge.

Those are actually not shadows but rather just dark violet trim. Although just to the inside of the left and right have a trapped shape making it look like shadows. I didn't know what to do about places that I colors in with graphite because you CANNOT go over it with pastel it just slips and skips along the way.
