This is my latest wip. It is a painting of a bonsai on display at Denver botannic gardens. I am about to start glazing the leaves.

I made a rookie mistake when I started this and did not establish the general background value, so now I am having to go in and impose it amongst the leaves. That is making this painting way harder than it needed to be and it was already hard enough.

Just mark it up to experience and remember it for the next time. :) You are doing a nice job so far, even though it is difficult.

Thanks. I need to glaze some raw or burnt sienna over the trunk, a thin and very transparent layer of it. I need to correct the perspective on the base. I need to glaze some more bluish green color onto the leaves. The pot and the dirt need a bit of work. And I may still fiddle with the background a bit, but it is very close. On the whole I am in the final phases of this and hope to finish it within a couple weeks. I really hope I can sell this one. I will probably ask around $500, because it is going to be very hard to part with it.
