Two more paintings from last weekend in the gallery. The first is of the picturesque harbour at Crail while the second is an imagined highland scene with mist rising from the loch. All C&Cs very welcome.

Very nice! I like both. You did a fantastic job of capturing mood in the first. I need to study your paint handling in the water reflections. Superb.

What oramasha said +1.

What size are they? The canvas, especially in the first one, seems very nubby.

Hi Oramasha - many thanks for your kind words - re water reflections - just mimic the colours of the buildings or whatever is causing the reflections roughly in the vertical direction - use a finger to get more control if your like and then just drag paint roughly horizontally in a zig-zag fashion - et voila!

Hi Cliff - first one is 8x8 inches on stretched canvas and the second is 7x5 inch on canvas board - so not all that different but I get what you mean - guess the square one is a coarser weave.

Very beautiful. That top one is really appealing to me with the lovely blues in the water and the pops of red. I like the composition to,with the liveliness created by the angles of the rooflines leading the eye through and around the painting.

Two more beauties Walter - love the 'Mediterranean' feel of the first - but miles between! .. it's in the colours of the cottages rather than the setting!
I like the second too - very different, a secret cove!
