Acrylic on masonite 17x26. An area hit by hurricane Sandy in NJ. I did a small pastel of the subject a while back. I started with a careful drawing and washes
gradually building up the surface. Glazes were painted with Golden glazing liquid Satin. Future tweaks will include softer edges and subtle value changes.
Cheers, Derek

How does one beautify a jumbled mess of rubble? Have Derek paint it.
Well Done, another good one. Always interesting to see the progression shots. Love those rocks, nice work!

Oh Derek - you've done it again! Super painting - even if it's not finished or whichever stage.:)
Thanks for showing the progress shots too- I hope it helps people to know that building from a base, each layer is a refinement on the last.

Haha, I forget about that. It's Jim. I tried both James and Jim on this forum, but both were already taken. The perils of having a really common name:lol:

I do love your paintings, thanks for the WIP. I guess the glossy look to them is from the glazing medium.

Just shows how important a good drawing is when one is painting something so intricate. Fantastic work Derek. Fascinating seeing the various stages.
