14x24 acrylic on board.
I have been going through artist's block. Driving home, this group of buildings caught my eye. Nice to be back after a layoff.

Very nice, although now that winter is FINALLY over in this neck of the woods, it kind of gives me the chills. LOL Really, it's very nice.

Very nice, I see why it caught you eye.

Derek. Glad you have your Muse back. Tough when they decide to take a holiday. This is a really masterful painting. Stunning work on that tree trunk.

Very beautiful! Great job!
Stunning, very textural work. Your ability to paint the smallest of details always amazes me. Glad to see you back again.

Derek you make old buildings look good and that tree bark looks like I could feel the roughness.

You make winter seem so NICE
Wondered where you were, glad all is OK and the Muse returned :D
Thanks so much to:

You certainly haven't lost your touch. Wonderful painting!

I'm going through artists block as well. I hope I come back as strong as you did, great work.
Michelle and Jonathan:
Thanks so much.

Well done! You have such a great ability to make "mundane" scenes come alive on canvas!
The only way to break that block is to work through it, but man o man can it be painful!
04-15-2015, 03:32 PM
Derek, your paintings always look so clean and beautiful, glad you're painting again.
04-16-2015, 04:00 AM
That's very smart. I drooled at the details in your tree trunk.
Pleased to hear you got unblocked. Let's keep fingers crossed your muse stays around now. I'm on a writing block so I know how you felt.

Very beautiful!! I like the flashed of red here and there between the cool colours. Amazing!
04-16-2015, 01:29 PM
One word ... wow.

I was about to mention that I couldn't see any power lines Derek, and then I did see them. The tree bark is super as is the whole painting. Thought you might be away on holiday. We were lucky to have a great summer but it's cooling down now. Good to see you back anyway.
Thanks so much to:
I appreciate the fine comments.

Somehow I missed this one Derek! Great work on this. Very realistic as I feel I am right there in person. Love the details throughout!

This is absolutely beautiful Derek. Your technique is so similar that it is hard to tell your oils from the acrylics. :)
Hey Sno: thanks very much. Yes I paint about the same in both media.

Awesome painting! It is so realistic. Your rendering of the tree bark is amazing.

Just seeing this one (hey, we all get busy ;)). Sure had lots of that white stuff this year. I love the feeling of playing in a friend's back yard as a kid, which is what I got from this. You did good!
Glad you're unblocked and we didn't have to call Roto-Rooter on you!

My very fave part of this painting is that tree shadow on the side of the building.
Top notch work as always.
Thanks very much.
