I've been busy on weekends lately and haven't gotten here in a while, but this morning, I'm up entirely too early, so I thought I'd stop on by.
This is all digital, painted in Artrage, but I did it with really big loose oils much in the same way you would paint with real paint. I started out with some dabs of paint right from the tube, and then painted with the palette knife.
I did use 3 layers. The burnt ochre color was blending with the blue and giving me greens that I didn't want, so I put the water and sky on one layer, the ground and greenery on another. I wasn't sure about the fence, so I put it on a separate layer, so I could delete it if I didn't like it.

Trying to keep things loose and concentrate more on values and contrasts than on details.

C&Cs always

It's lovely Elaine and I think you were wise to use layers - I find it easier!
I like the fluidity of the strokes and those trees came out really well.

I was going to say I love the strokework- I think even more impressive that it's digital. Wonderful job on the sky!

Elaine, this is awesome! Hard to think it is not oil on canvas.

Lovely work. So it's LAYERS that stop the whole thing going yuk. Now I know why Art Rage causes rage with me! Well done you! I love your touch of turquoise in the right side of the sky, too. So right.

Oh, how lush this looks, like beautiful big applications of oils generously applied ! I missed the little splash of turquoise till it was pointed out, but I see a hidden dash of blue in the opposite bank that ties it together so subtly with the sea. Very nice !

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/14-Apr-2015/42008-NEAR_THE_BEACH2.jpeg I decided to add the wildflowers and refine this a bit. Put in some more color. Not sure if it is an improvement or just lots of fussiness.
The wildflowers have bloomed!

wonderful digi work, it looks harder than the workshop I just took using a palette knife, think I will stick with an actual knife, probably easier
