I chose the hardworking Indian fisherman and decided to use 15.25x 11.75 matboard onto which I put down a stencil of odd shaped holes and painted both acrylic and watercolor (no gesso first). See it here:

Next is ink line with Staedtler LumoColor:

At the 2 hour mark:

20 more minutes and may :crossfingers: be done. The water was not painted in and plaid shirt plus details were omitted; I like the unfinished look to it being rough just like the fisherman who leads a hard life.

C&C welcome

Coolio! Love the progress shots too - thank you!

(... when I first read your thread title I thought it said "He's got a lime" and I could not recall a ref image with citrus fruit ... :) )

Wow. Love it and this result in only two and a half hours! I've been submersing myself in watercolors the last two weeks and am hoping someday having your result. It looks so easy and natural in your progress shots but it's so hard to do it yourself:lol:

COOL!! Love the progression pics. IT reminds me a bit of the profile of the woman you did YEARS ago....she had rings on her neck. Anywho....this is a winner for sure!!

I enjoyed the walk through. What a beautiful series of progression. Its like a mystery unfolding to people like me who don't paint :)

This worked very well to do the background first and then draw and paint on it. Love the finished effect.
