Hi Everyone,
I am new here and hope that`s excuse enough for what I'm about to post.

The brick house done with senelier pastel on black mi-teintes canson 75 lbs (for me there is not enough grip on the paper for these particular pastels but I couldn't find my heavier stuff) about 40 minutes with a wobbly result but I like the colors on it.

and a fast 20 min. portrait sketch of our hostess with all my apologies. I love faces but am still learning to make something euhmmm... decent

I think that you have done a good job. There is a looseness, and freshness to your work that is appealing.

I like the choice colors in your first.

Are you using ink or graphite in your portrait? It appears ink-like.
Good capturing of proportion :)

Welcome to WDE ! Hope to see you here on a regular basis !
I really appreciate the warmth of the cafe scene, it's a good crop as well. The portrait is spirited and fun. Sizes ?

thanks everyone

the pastel is 9x12 inches and the portrait sketch is about 5x5 and done with just a black pen.

next time I'll try doing something a bit more sophisticated. The idea of posting something made me a bit nervous.

I do love portraits. looking forward to new challenges. it is much more fun than simply drawing and sketching all alone. I love the idea of different people working on a same subject and getting all different outcomes.

oh, I forgot to mention both were donne upside down.

Welcome to our WDEs - and make sure to come back each week!:)

The colourful pastel is lovely and the sketch is really lively - good try 'cos portraits (especially small size!) are difficult.

Never be nervous about posting here, we're all friendly and supportive :)
