This is from sketches and photos about 8 years ago, painted recently, acrylic on paper, 9 x 12 ins. It's the outside of the main "square" in Port of Spain, more of a long rectangle than a square. If you were here, the square would be on your right with traffic in between and with several streets at right angles cutting through the square -- which has trees, flowerbeds and concrete tables and chairs. Before independence it was called Marine Square.

Wonderful atmosphere, Mary, plus what Doug and Derek said already.
It is so interesting to see how you can give the impression of contrast with such close values.

Thanks for sharing,Mary!
Excellent work.
It slightly looks like a picture throught the eyes of a short-sighted person.

I like this a lot. Great figures - they are there. Nice sense of intense light coming between the buildings too.

Mary, very nice. It really conveys the sense of the hot sun shining in the street and on the buildings beyond with the figures in cool shade. The people are great - just the right amount of detail. I love your paintings!

Trier, thank you for your kind words.

Chad23 -- I am shortsighted! What's the giveaway?

ColinS -- thanks for commenting -- yes, there's a cross-street in the middle facing directly south so the light pours through there.

Annie, love your comment, thank you!
