View Full Version : Which are your favorite brands for burnt sienna and burnt umber?

I have both of these in Golden, but I'd like to try another brand. I may substitute or try Van Dyke brown for burnt umber. When I add burnt umber to anything, it just looks bad. This may be a user problem or a pigment problem. :) The burnt sienna is less of a problem, but I hear other artists say that the burnt sienna does not traditionally look like Golden's mix.

In any case, I'm wondering what people's favorite brands are for these colors.
I've never tried any other artist brands, so I'd be curious to hear what other people use and if they like them.

I find Old Holland New Masters acrylics a great brand. They are very buttery and look like oil paint.

I am a Liquitex user and have always been totally happy with their Burnt Umber and Burnt Sienna both of which I use a lot.
